Trade Talks

The NBA added two prediction markets to its roster on Monday.

The Association named Kalshi and Polymarket its “preferred prediction market exchanges.” Both sides bring baggage into the locker room: the trading sites are battling states in court over whether prediction markets are just sports betting in different uniforms, and the NBA’s still dealing with recent gambling scandals.

Still, an NBA exec said the partnership better protects “the integrity of our games.” Under the deal:

  • NBA players and staff cannot trade on games,
  • the league can limit offered markets (e.g., opening tips, specific missed shots),
  • the sites must report suspicious trades,
  • and the NBA will share logos and data.

Meanwhile, on the court, the sophomore-season Golden State Valkyries are one win away from a WNBA championship after beating the Atlanta Dream on Monday.
