The Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo
A new Ebola outbreak began in DR Congo in May 2026, caused by the Bundibugyo type of the virus. It's the fastest Ebola outbreak on record. The center is Ituri province in the northeast, and the virus has since spread to nearby provinces and into Uganda.
