How the numbers increased cumulative confirmed cases · DR Congo

The outbreak reached 1,000 cases in about 40 days. The 2018 North Kivu outbreak needed about 235 days to reach the same number.

A virus with no approved cure

This outbreak is the Bundibugyo type of Ebola. It is different from the more common Zaire type. There is no approved vaccine and no approved medicine for this type. Doctors give supportive care only. About 80% of new cases come from unknown transmission chains.
