A brewing NATO family feud has been dodged… for now.

Taking the mic in Davos, President Trump said he would not use military force to acquire Greenland. Hours later, he announced a “framework of a future deal” on Greenland with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. 

One option reportedly on the table would give the U.S. sovereignty over small pockets of Greenlandic land to build military bases. Trump also walked back earlier tariff threats on eight European countries aimed at pressuring Denmark and Greenland into negotiations, which markets cheered.

NATO confirmed that talks among the U.S., Denmark, and Greenland are focused on preventing Russia and China from gaining economic or military influence in the region. Danish and Greenlandic officials stressed that broad sovereignty remains non-negotiable, NATO cannot make deals on their behalf, and no formal agreement exists.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
As world leaders navigate the geopolitical chess board, Christians should be committed to praying for them to be wise and to work towards peaceful resolutions, while simultaneously placing our hope in God, not government.
