Jimmy Kimmel Suspended

ABC says Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been indefinitely suspended over the late-night host’s “offensive and insensitive” comments.

On Monday, Kimmel said the “MAGA gang” was trying to use the assassination of Charlie Kirk to “score political points.” FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr called the remarks “sick” and suggested a regulatory investigation into ABC—the show was suspended hours later.

Many Republicans cheered the decision, while Democratic lawmakers and Hollywood writers called the pressure from the FCC an assault on free speech and “corrupt abuse of power.”

Meanwhile, thousands are expected to flood Arizona’s State Farm Stadium wearing red, white, and blue for Charlie Kirk’s memorial on Sunday. Speakers from the Trump administration—including the President—will join Erika Kirk (Turning Point USA’s new CEO) to pay tribute, alongside Christian performers like Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, and Kari Jobe.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
Moments of grief and contention often become flashpoints, but Christians can be at the forefront of the effort to de-escalate political tension. We know our time as citizens of Earth is just a blip on the timeline of eternity, which gives us hope and motivates holiness.

“For the grace of God has appeared… instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
