The Group of 7

G7, the annual world leader get-together, wrapped yesterday.

Heads of state from seven major economies (plus the EU and some other invited countries) met in Canada to discuss the global economy and diplomacy and pose for a mountain-view “family photo.”

During the gathering:

  • President Trump suggested the coalition should expand to G8 or even G9 by reinviting Russia and potentially adding China to the chat
  • Leaders urged Trump to scale down his trade war
  • The U.S. and U.K. signed an agreement removing some trade barriers between the two (steel imports remain unresolved)
  • The leaders collectively issued a statement supporting Israel and condemning Iran as the “principal source of regional instability and terror”

POTUS left the party a day early, citing “what’s going on in the Middle East” and efforts to find “a real end” to Iran’s nuclear program.

Verse to consider as world leaders are making world-impacting decisions… “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
