Cockroaches Declare Victory
Protesters hung up their signs Saturday after one of the biggest dissent movements in India’s recent history.
The Gen Z-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), formed after India’s top judge called unemployed youth “cockroaches”, spearheaded demonstrations over education reform, youth unemployment, and government crackdowns. Protesters demanded the resignation of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a key ally of PM Modi who they say didn’t do enough to stop leaked college entrance exams, including a fiercely competitive medical school test leak that forced millions of retakes and was linked to 20+ student suicides.
Pradhan resigned Saturday, saying he was “deeply pained” by recent events but didn’t want “anti-national forces” to benefit from protests. The CJP said, “Cockroaches won. Democracy won!” after Modi’s government promised amnesty for protesters, exam reform, and compensation for families whose students died by suicide.

Verse to consider whether you get what you’ve been asking for or are still waiting… “Trust in the LORD and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday. Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the person who carries out evil plans.”
