12-Day War
A fragile Israel-Iran ceasefire didn’t immediately cease all the firing.
On Monday, President Trump announced he had brokered a “complete and total” ceasefire between the two countries, ending their “12-day war.” However, hours later, Israel claimed Iran broke the ceasefire (which Iran denies) and retaliated by striking a radar system near Tehran. Yesterday, Trump used colorful language to scold both nations, angrily telling them to “calm down” and warning Israel that any additional attacks will be a “major violation.”
Since those early violations, the ceasefire appears to be holding.
All this came after Iran launched missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar—retaliation for the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. President Trump thanked Iran for giving early notice on the “very weak” missile attack, which was easily intercepted and resulted in no damage or casualties.

Verse to consider whether you’re conducting international war diplomacy, stuck in the middle of a tense conflict at work, or just settling sibling squabbles… “Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry for help.”

POLITICS
New York, New York
Big Apple voters hit the polls yesterday to pick their Democratic mayoral candidate.
Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic Socialist state lawmaker, took the day. He ran a digitally savvy campaign that focused on the city’s high cost of living, promising a rent freeze and free buses, which energized young voters. Former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was hoping for a political comeback after resigning in 2021 amid harassment allegations, conceded the race last night.
Mamdani will take on Republican and independent challengers—including now-independent incumbent Eric Adams—for the mayoral seat in November.
Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) directed the Empire State to construct a new zero-emissions nuclear power facility—the nation’s first nuclear plant project in nearly 20 years. The plant will likely take over a decade to build and aims to add enough electricity to power 1 million homes.

ABOVE ALL, LOVE
Followers of Christ are not identified by their political affiliation but by their love for others. And yes, that means loving people that you believe have un-loving beliefs/stances.
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High.”

Breakup
Hims & Hers stock just lost weight in a hurry, falling over 30% on Monday.
Novo Nordisk, the drugmaker behind Ozempic and Wegovy, broke off their short-lived agreement to sell weight-loss injectables through the U.S. telehealth company, accusing Hims & Hers of also selling unsafe, cheap Wegovy knockoffs and using deceptive marketing practices. Hims & Hers hit back, alleging Novo had been pressuring them to steer patients to Wegovy regardless of if it was the best option.
It wasn’t the only big stock move. Tesla jumped 8% after launching its long-anticipated robotaxi service with 10-20 driverless vehicles in Austin, Texas.
Elon Musk promised to start scaling after a “successful” launch. However, regulators are requesting more info about videos that appear to show the robotaxis acting chaotically, including driving on the wrong side of the road (watch here).

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE
Too often, we let eternally insignificant things, like the ups and downs of the market, control our mood and behavior. Seeking to steward money well is a good thing, but our hope is in Christ, not a good ROI.
“Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.”

IN OTHER BREWS…
NATO’s assembling. Heads-of-state from the treaty organization, including President Trump, are gathering in the Netherlands for their annual two-day summit. On the agenda: Israel-Iran and Russia-Ukraine convos, tariff talks, and a confirmation vote to formalize each member country’s fresh commitment to increase defense spending from 2% to 5% of GDP (except for Spain… and maybe the U.S., who want exemptions).
The Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to resume deportations to “third countries” (somewhere other than their homeland). The administration argued it would otherwise be unable to deport some criminals, as countries often refuse to take them back. Three liberal justices dissented, saying the ruling strips critical due process protection and allows deportations to countries committing human rights violations against prisoners.
Dolly Parton is trading Dollywood for the Vegas Strip. The country icon just alerted her fans to grab their rhinestones—she’s headed to Caesars Palace’s Colosseum for Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, a six-show mini-residency running from December 4-13. It’s her first tour since 2016 and her first extended Vegas stay in over 30 years. Expect lots of sparkle.
Adding guac because it was “only $0.67/month for four months” will soon affect your credit score. FICO will begin considering Americans’ estimated $100B in Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) loans in its scoring formula this fall. FICO says the addition will help people with limited credit history boost their score… assuming they haven’t missed any of the “four easy installments.”
Protestors are threatening to crash Jeff Bezos’s wedding. The Amazon tycoon’s wedding party was relocated to a different part of the floating city after locals and protest groups objected to the star-studded ceremony, claiming the “wedding of the century” would turn Venice—already facing overtourism—into an “amusement park for the rich.” City officials have defended the celebration, saying it boosts local business.

What We’re Drinking
Lemonade Salt from LMNT*
When we had to stay an extra day in the hospital after our second daughter was born, my wife, Hannah, asked me to swing by the house and do two things:
-
Check on our 2-year-old (who was thriving with Nana and Papa)
-
Grab more LMNT sticks
I’m suspicious that the list wasn’t in order of priority.
We’re both hooked—especially on the new Lemonade Salt. LMNT has the perfect, science-backed electrolyte ratio, which means lots of salt and zero sugar that makes hydration feel like a treat.
Order today and get a free 8-pack of LMNT’s most popular flavors.
